Afterthought Thrum Mitts Pattern (PDF Pattern Only)

This pattern was designed to turn any knit mittens into thrum mittens! This pattern works best with hand knit mittens, as commercially knit mittens will have a tighter gauge and it will be difficult to insert the thrums evenly.

You can adapt this pattern for knit mittens ranging from worsted weight yarn up to chunky weight yarn. Adding thrums to fingering weight yarn is possible, but much more challenging.

You can also use this technique to repair any damaged or old thrums of completed thrum mitts, or if you forgot to add a thrum while knitting.

Suitable for beginner knitters and crocheters, who are comfortable using a crochet hook.
